The STATE HOUSE INNS of Providence consist of two fully restored 18th century luxury mansions located minutes from downtown Providence and offer business travelers and leisure tourists a delightful alternative -- superb accommodations, excellent breakfasts and personal service at competitive prices.

Our two inns, CHRISTOPHER DODGE HOUSE - circa 1858 - and MOWRY-NICHOLSON HOUSE - circa 1856, are located two blocks from the State Capitol and cater to discriminating persons with high expectations who want more than the usual hotel room.

Question: Why would anyone travel to Providence and stay in a conventional hotel when they could stay in a beautifully restored 18th century inn with all the amenities offered by larger hotels??

The inns are located close to Brown University, Johnson & Wales University, Providence College, and Rhode Island School of Design - RISD. Both inns are also within walking distance to Providence Place Mall, the State Capitol, Amtrak station, the Convention Center, IMAX Theater, and, our famous WaterFire. There is so much to see and do in Rhode Island including enjoying a wide variety of centrally located fine dining restaurants nestled among your choice of activities. Day trips to glorious Newport, a beach outing, or experiencing Boston's famous Newbury Street shopping and China Town are all within a short driving distance from the inns.

Accommodations include king or queen beds, private tiled bath, cable TV, voicemail telephone, wireless internet, individual heat and A/C controls, hair dryer, iron & ironing board, and reversible ceiling fan among other amenities. Some accommodations include a separate sitting room adjacent to the bedroom, with sofa bed, an additional TV and separate climate controls.
